I don’t usually start an intro with, “I’ve been there…” (bc how boring), but in this case, I actually have.
The #1 question I get asked by aspiring or scaling copywriters is, “How did you get to where you are now?” This is usually followed by, “Do you offer coaching?”... and now, I do! But wait, let’s take it back to circa 2017 when I worked as a brand marketing manager for a small business in Tampa. I was in charge of literally everything. From social media channels to email marketing, website design, copy, advertising, you name it — I was the girl.
When I decided to take my skills to the online space as a Virtual Assistant in 2018, I very quickly gravitated toward copywriting tasks: website, sales page, email campaigns, etc. In February 2020 (just days before the pandemic), I went full-send and invested all my hard-earned VA business profits in a $10k copywriting certificate.
Even when the world as we knew it was changing before our eyes, I made my investment back in full within 90 days. From there, it was all $5k, $10k, and $20k months.
